Short answer: Google doesn't let you share Starred places, so there is no direct export. Add them to a new list, share that list, and paste its link into the converter above to get a GPX file.
Why can't I export Starred places directly?
Saved (starred) places in Google Maps live under your personal account, not as a shareable link, which is exactly why there's no direct export-to-GPX button for them. Google Takeout technically exports saved places, but only as a CSV of names and addresses, zero coordinates, so it isn't usable on a GPS device without a separate geocoding step first.
How do I turn Starred places into a GPX file?
The fix takes about a minute: in Google Maps, create a new list, add your starred places into it (tap a saved place, then "Add to list"), and use that list's Share option to generate a public link. That link is what MapsLinkQuest reads.
- In Google Maps, create a new list and give it a name.
- Add each Starred place to the new list (tap the place, then Save or Add to list). It's a few taps per place, so a long Starred list takes a while.
- Open the new list's sharing options, set it to Shared, and copy the link to view.
- Paste that link into the converter above and download the GPX file.
